The MQ-7 gas sensor module is designed to detect carbon monoxide (CO) gas in the air, commonly used in gas leak detectors, safety devices, and industrial control systems. It works through a chemical reaction between CO gas and a conductive metal oxide, generating a current that correlates with CO concentration.
The MQ-7 can detect CO concentrations between 20-2000 ppm, with both digital and analog output options. The digital output threshold is easily adjustable via a preset on the board. As CO is a toxic gas, caution and proper safety measures are essential when using this sensor.
This module is compatible with microcontrollers, including Arduino, and is a reliable tool for gas detection. For more information on gas sensors, including an explanation of 1ppm and a list of different MQ sensor series, check out our blog.
