The GT521F52 Optical Fingerprint Scanner Module with JST SH Connector is a high-performance biometric scanner designed for applications such as access control, security, user identification, and convenience. Featuring a serial UART interface, it offers easy integration into a wide range of systems. The module requires just four wires: TX and RX for data communication, and 5V power and GND for operation.
The key difference between the GT521F52 and the GT521F32 lies in fingerprint storage capacity, with the GT521F52 supporting a larger number of fingerprint templates.
Fingerprint scanners generally fall into four types: optical, capacitive, ultrasonic, and thermal. The GT521F52 is an optical scanner, which captures fingerprint images using a built-in digital camera.
When idle, the module is activated by a finger touching the sensor’s metal frame. The captured fingerprint image is processed on-board by a low-power 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 processor, which extracts fingerprint features and converts them into a digital template. These templates are stored locally on the module, which can be configured as a USB mass storage device. Templates can also be shared across a network with other modules via a database, enabling easy and scalable multi-user enrollment.
