C32 ICL8038 Sine/Delta/Square Wave Signal Generator Module
The C32 ICL8038 Signal Generator Module is a versatile waveform generator based on the ICL8038 integrated circuit from Intersil. It produces sine, square, and triangular (delta) waveforms and operates over a wide frequency range—from millihertz up to 100kHz.
Built using bipolar monolithic technology with Schottky barrier diodes, the ICL8038 features a voltage-controlled oscillator. It generates triangular waves by charging and discharging a capacitor with constant current, which are then shaped into sine waves via a non-linear network. Output frequency can be adjusted using resistors or an external control voltage. When combined with a PLL, temperature drift can be reduced to less than 250ppm/°C.
