This IR reflective sensor module uses the TCRT5000 sensor to detect color and distance. It features an IR transmitter and receiver—when powered, the transmitter continuously emits infrared light. If an object is nearby, the IR light is reflected back and detected by the receiver. Commonly used in line-following and object-sorting robots, the sensor can distinguish between black and white surfaces.
It has a measuring range of 1mm to 8mm, with an optimal detection point around 2.5mm. An onboard potentiometer allows sensitivity adjustment. When no reflection is detected, the digital output (DO) remains LOW, indicating no nearby object or dark surface.
