The SparkFun RedBot Line Follower Sensor is an expansion module for the RedBot platform, enabling robots to detect lines or nearby obstacles. It operates using an infrared (IR) LED that emits light and measures the reflection from surfaces beneath or ahead.

By analyzing the amount of reflected IR light, the sensor can distinguish between light and dark surfaces—perfect for line-following—and can also identify nearby objects. It features a 3-pin header that connects easily to the RedBot Mainboard using female-to-female jumper wires.

For seamless integration, simply use the compatible RedBot library to start detecting lines and obstacles in your robotic projects.
