The Infrared Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module is a cost-effective and reliable solution for object detection in robotics and other electronics projects. It features a fully assembled board with four simple connections: VCC (3–6V), GND, OUT, and EN (Enable). The output is active LOW, and an onboard status LED indicates detection.
This module is easy to interface with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or any microcontroller. The EN pin disables the sensor when set HIGH (VCC) and enables it when LOW (GND). A jumper allows you to bypass EN control—leave it connected for most applications.
Two onboard potentiometers adjust the 38kHz IR signal frequency (via a 555 timer) and emitter intensity. While you can fine-tune them, the factory setting generally works well. The sensor achieves reliable detection within 30–40 cm, depending on surface type—smooth, light surfaces reflect IR better than dark or textured ones.
